happy new year everyone

leaving tomorrow for temecula to spend my happy goo year's eve and pre-eve. be out of touch until the 1st. on a new diet plan so no drinking for the festivities. and no sugar. or bread. or pasta. been doing it for three days and feel a little lighter around the midsection. also a bit lightheaded as i was doing my regular workout. something's working.

finished up a few last mixes for tj and the last conservative, handing them off to rob tomorrow... then finally we're working on our ep/album/we'll see how many tracks we finish by february.

more news about fun stuff coming when i get back. have fun and be safe.

thank god it's over

did the christmas thing down at the parents... invited skeely down since he ended up staying in town rather than treking across the country. speaking of that, looks like we might be driving cross-country next week. fun. more on that when we know.

in the meantime, we've finally rented a storage space and we're packing up all our crap and getting it in there. the house is a mess but it feels... lighter.

blogging... huh.. what is it good for?

one last thought - i've been pretty burned out on the blogging thing lately. is it really worthwhile for a few of my friends to read boring shit i struggle to come up with every few days, when i need to delete 100+ comment spams and watch the server take a sever hit all the time?

i'm sure jason will chime in with some comment about how i'm so completely out of touch and unaware of some new app i could be using instead of mt that solves the problem. but judging from the shitstorm that's brewing discussion wise all over daypop about the lack of solutions to the issue, maybe not.

guess i'll probably shut down comments on all old entries, but i must admit i really do enjoy the two months later random comments when they do occur. kind of defeats the purpose of the whole thing to turn off commenting.

fucking spammers.

will it ever end?

two days before christmas, and we're still getting work emails. what's up with that?

wendy did cookie delivery duty today. if you've already left or live outside of la, you missed out.

i have one more shopping pass to do tomorrow and then i'm done. assuming fedex shows up with my mom's stuff tomorrow, of course.

off to dinner with john before he leaves town, maybe hook up with skeely and marie later on tonight and do the gift thing with them, and then it's sliding into the hell that is pure family time. oh well.

6 and a half more years - spent alone.

LOS ANGELES - Dutch scientists think they have discovered the diet that can add almost seven years to one's life and massively cut the risk of heart disease. The so-called "Polymeal" includes red wine and fish -- both known to help prevent heart disease -- dark chocolate -- which is known to reduce blood pressure -- along with fruit, vegetables, almonds and garlic to help with reducing cholesterol.

Following the diet could lead to a massive 76 percent reduction in the risk of heart disease.

Research showed men who follow the diet can live more than six and a half years longer than those who do not. In women, the Polymeal increased life expectancy by nearly five years.

Researchers found the diet did have one unfortunate side effect -- bad breath and nasty body odor.

just stuff

Finally made a decision - we're sticking in town for the holidays, rather than heading back east... spent all day yesterday at a funeral for a family member, so it was decided it would be best to stick around with the family this year. with the now regular goo new years happening in california this year, it makes sense anyway to just stick around. we'll head back east in january or february.

finished up most of the pressing work issues, and made a little bank to catch up on the great tax fiasco of 04. Looking for a new accountant. If anyone has any good recommendations, feel free to drop me a line.

tonight we're off to dinner with greg and anna and then we're going to catch the life aquatic. can't wait. wen and i are about to sit down and finally start planning our xmas shopping. hopefully we're not too late to do most of it online. we'll see.

tomorrow night we're off to see tj play a showcase... last conversative, one of the bands i did production on. glad robby got this together, get a little non-buffalo exposure. it really is a fantastic album so here's hoping.

what else is going on? not much... cleaning up my computer and getting ready for the new one. should be a painless upgrade, for once... mostly due to the monster firewire drives we have sitting around these days. all of my docs easily copied over. apps won't be too hard as all the companies finally got hip to multiple downloads of purchased installers. just have to get all those emails and codes together.

wen's birthday is tuesday. i have been expressly forbidden from organizing a party... so for those of you who care, just send an email or give her a call.

not really sure what i'll be up to holiday wise. no real parties to speak of this year. apparently my social mojo stock has dropped this year, but quite frankly, i'm too exhausted to really give a shit. just going to hang out with some friends and do the low-key dinners and whatnot. do a little decorating around the home this coming week... try to get to disneyland and check out the lights and then get the hell out of there... all that sort of crap.

geek out!

I've been using the same computer for 3 years now. It's been a fine machine, but I'm sick and tired of waiting for it to load photoshop or switch between apps or reboot. It runs like a dog. Time to upgrade.

Can't really afford it, but in the name of additional tax write offs, I went ahead and ordered one today. Always wanted one of these. God bless alienware.

whew

just back from a last minute trip to vegas. literally. first time i've ever done that. bought tickets at 5pm, on the plane at 7pm, landed around 8, straight to the green day show, hung out after, quick crash in bed, back at the airport at 10am and back home (to about 20 messages and a few desparate sounding clients - how do they know the second you leave?) by 11:30, just in time for lunch.

thinning the herd.

KENT, Washington (AP) -- A man who placed a lava lamp on a hot stovetop was killed when it exploded and sent a shard of glass into his heart, police said.

Philip Quinn, 24, was found dead in his trailer home Sunday night by his parents.

"Why on earth he was heating a lava lamp on the stove, we don't know," Kent Police spokesman Paul Petersen said Monday.

After the lamp exploded, Quinn apparently stumbled into his bedroom, where he died Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

Police found no evidence of drug or alcohol use.
