just back from a fantastic night out with karl.. just bullshitting about politics, music, art, culture over fantastic food and wine. really, a great night out. makes me wish he really did live down the corner, but as much as i love london i'm really used to 80 degrees year round and not ready to move back there. i guess he'll just have to move out here, because nights like this are far too rare.
and if any high-powered types are reading this, give him a goddamn record deal because it's insane that people as brilliant as he is aren't being heard right now. what a fucking waste the airwaves are now, and it's all goddamn clear channels fault. bullshit there isn't a hunger for well thought out music and lyrics that have something to say. shame on you.
wen will be doing a show at the albright knox as part of that whole thing... her own damn room. pretty groovy.
Best ipod accessory - the extended applecare plan. iPod numero three (since may of last year) has bitten the dust. Battery is fully charged; lasts 15 minutes. Quite annoying when you're at the gym.
Anyway, off it goes, to be replaced by a "new" ipod in a week or two. Might have to go pick up a mini just to have a backup. This is sucking.
Off to beck... tsunami relief show tonight. It's been years since I've seen Beck live... and even longer since i've given a crap, but apparently the new album is really good.
Among other things. Found the time to see Constantine (pretty good, but I'm a sucker for the devil) and Finding Neverland, which I quite liked but everyone I was with didn't.
Karl's in town for a week so it's juggling hanging out with him and actually getting shite done. So far, getting shite done is winning but that's probably going to end come tomorrow.
Had my first blue screen of death a few minutes ago, so taking a break to debug the computer... we'll see what happens.
And I've been enjoying the rain, but that's quite enough now, thank you. So stop.
Not much has been going on. I had to have my credit card company open an investigation with Alienware, since they have been incapable of refunding me for the computer I never recieved. Fun. And then Vespa took 2 months to repair our scooter, and when we got it back, shit that wasn't broken now isn't working. Fun.
Went and saw Finding Neverland the other day.. i really enjoyed it. Been enjoying Netflix as well, although I made the mistake of ordering three documentaries at once instead of mixing it up a bit. A slow patch at the moment. We'll work through them eventually.
Spent a few hours today ripping mp3 audio tracks off of a bunch of live DVDs. I've been really into listening to live performances on the ol' ipod at the gym recently, and some of the best shows I've only got on DVD... so some good new fodder for the ears tomorrow.
What else? Went for a late night walk with Wendy and picked up Skeely... then randomly ran into EJ who was out tooling around on his bike. It can be pretty groovy living within a few blocks of some good friends.
Finally updated and migrated everyone's blogs to the latest... easy enough for them but i had done custom templating way back when and my old templates are all fubared. what a severe pain in the ass. might just go standard look rather than deal.
upgrading to the new version of mt. not that you can tell yet; it's just a backend upgrade until i start incorporating the new features in my template. which i'm too fucking lazy to do right now.
great dinner last night with rob and miyoko... good to see them before they're off again.
going to bite the bullet and upgrade everyone's blogs sometime tomorrow. was going to do it today but we just got an invite to a grammy party so that'll probably be that for today. maybe take a nap so i can swing what will more likely be a very long night.
ugh. i spent more time deleting spam comments than making entries. sux0rs.
tonight rocked. met pedro and uncle rico. wendy has like, the best picture ever.

i just love that fresh computer smell.
got it yesterday. i can no longer wait three years before upgrading. I can't believe i waited that long before. I no longer have time to get a cup of coffee when I launch applications. What a joy.
Mostly completed the new computer transfer-two-step. All my docs are over and semi-organized, all my apps are reinstalled and upgraded if needed... nice.
So, one last fuck you to Alienware. On the day I finally gave up and asked for a refund, I ordered a customized system from Dell. I got it three days later, it's setup and running wonderfully, and I still haven't been refunded by Alienware.
One last thought - with any luck, this will be my last PC. If Mac trends continue, I fully expect to be able to get a mac and not worry about having to see everything on PC before launching. I'll still have a system to do tests on, but I plan to develop on Mac next time around.
