Halloween!

Thursday, October 31st, 2002

It’s Halloween and for the first time in 5 or 6 years, Wendy and I have no plans. What a bummer. We aren’t in New Orleans, Las Vegas, Salem or any of the other cool places we like to travel to… we aren’t throwing a party, nor have we been invited to any. There’s not a damn thing to do tonight, and by all reports we’ve had, the Hollywood parade sucks and we shouldn’t go.

Oh well. We went to two parties last weekend and we’ve got one tomorrow night, but it’s still a drag. This is our favorite night of the year and it looks like we’ll be staying home and continuing our work on our front room. Sanding for halloween! woo hoo!

Go Angels!

It ain’t the World Cup, but it’s been damn fun watching my home town team these past two games… up 4 to 1 right now, four innings left… and they’ll win the World Series. Kick ass!

electroween

Just checking in… working on my yearly halloween mix. It’s electroween this year, since there really aren’t that many good halloween songs and I used them all in last year’s mix. Ladytron, Fischerspooner, Death in Vegas… good, dark, 80’s sounding death disco in the hopper at the moment.

Saw Bowling for Columbine last night. Run, don’t walk, to your local art-house theater and catch it.

Sneezing like a bastard at the moment so hopping on the bike to let my lack of breath chase it away.

Work stinks. Nothing good going on in that arena at the moment. Hopefully it’ll turn around next week. No Halloween plans as of yet which is a bit frightening as it’s Wendy’s favorite holiday. Gotta rustle up some plans asap.

it’s raining crap

Music system shat out on me. Main hard drive decided to die… which, all things considered, was rather fortunate, as the second drive held all my data… music, samples, midi files… so, of the two, I guess it was best to lose the system drive.

So, today I’m picking up a new hard drive and Windows XP Professional, since Pro Tools, Logic, etc will all run on that as well as Win 98. Screw Win 98. Let’s have a somewhat stable OS to run all my music software on, shall we?

So… in addition to writing up a big important work proposal, I’ll be doing installs all day today. HD in, Win XP Pro, Pro Tools, Logic, Acid, Soundforge, various plug-ins, drivers for all the midi crap, soft synths, sample libraries… sigh. And back to the home networking issues, which hopefully will be easier since both systems will be running XP.

Some day I might actually be able to just sit down and work on music. Doubtful. At least I’ll have the opportunity to upgrade everything to the latest builds while doing installs and whatnot.

Stole this shot from Will… he’s got a bunch up at his blog. Nice sweaty head shots after the Underworld show. Dave looks so happy he could puke!
