Two Towers

Wednesday, December 18th, 2002

Went to the midnite screening at the Arclight last night. Damn fine flick, although at the moment I’m thinking the Fellowship of the Ring was a better movie. This opinion will most likely change as a) I was ridiculously tired by the time the film started; 3 hours later I was ready to drop… b) seats were a little too close to the wonderful wrap-around arclight screen and my eyes were hurting a bit from trying to take in all the action and c) this movie is unbelievable dense, and even knowing the story it’ll take a few viewings to really catch everything that’s going on.

Good shite, I tell ye.

Wigging out

Starting my usual pre-travel freak out. We leave on Sunday and it feels like I have 10 million things to do before then. I don’t, really, but I still feel that way. Two Towers at midnight tonight, a holiday party on Wednesday evening, potentially a concert on Thursday, christmas with my family on Friday.. and somewhere in there, wrapping up the presents, packing for the trip, making sure all the reservations and whatnot are set, a few small work things, an attempt to nail down some proposals and whatnot for when we get back…. sigh

going to drink a lot of coffee over the next few days, i think.

It’s Wendy day!

Happy Birthday to the love of my life, the lovely Wendy. Woot. Tonight is also her art show, so if you’re in the LA area, come on down. Free booze!

Fuck 645af.com

Tomorrow is Wendy’s birthday. I ordered a Nikon D100 package (camera, bag, blah blah) - and was charged - on Dec 4th. I paid for next day air shipping. The camera is still not here, and as far as UPS knows, has not left 645 af’s offices, even though they have told me for the last four days running that the “camera is going out today”. The only concession - they offered to cover the shipping charges after much continued yelling and bitching.

But now it’s too late, because Wendy’s birthday is tomorrow. So, a quick call to Amex, stop the payment, run down to Samy’s and end up paying only about $20 more - without their damn shipping charges and with all the same damn stuff, and probably a much nicer bag, to boot. And since they’ve decided not to answer the phone anymore, a nice “fuck off and don’t bother shipping it” message on their answering service.

Now it’s time to go complain to CNET, which gave the store a relatively high rating.

Damn…
