Jason isn’t the only one on a mission right now… I might have already dropped quite a bit, but my 30th birthday is coming up next month and I’m on a mission to lose 10-15 pounds by then. That’ll pretty much end my weight loss needs and then I’ll concentrate on tone, flexibility and muscle mass.

Basically, the secret is sustained elevated heart rate… and as such, I picked up the Polar A-5 heart rate monitor the other day and have been using it. I’m working out a lot harder now, which is good, because I really know I’m being effective. The monitor/watch gives you continual heart rate readings, will beep if you go above or below your target heart rates, and measures your overall intensity of workout and body mass index. It kind of sucks to have a watch that tells you you’re still fat after each workout, but there ya go.

Wendy and I also picked up rollerblades and a basketball… with the polar monitor I’ll be able to actually have fun workouts now, without worrying that they aren’t effective.

Off to OC now… a late lunch with the parents then off to the Pond for the big show…
