primal scream of rage and frustration
big project due friday.. been apprehensive about it for awhile since as part of our new fungus vision we’re doing some outsourcing and this was a test case. needless to say it’s all gone south and i’m pretty much seriously looking at throwing out 2 weeks worth of work and starting from scratch tomorrow. the day before launch.
and, as per usual in these sorts of situations, wendy’s mac has experienced a fairly cataclysmic crash and is totally fubared. norton is running and hopefully will fix things.
i am now starting to drink heavily and will unplug for the rest of the night since tomorrow is likely to be the start of a 48 hour straight work bender.
Having a monumental freak out over work today. Things are definately picking up, which is good… juggling about 5 in-process projects and another 5 or so possibles in the budget / defining the project stage.
My hatred for Flash grows in leaps and bounds. My main gripe, at the moment, is the linear work flow structure imposed. I can’t work on the damn file while wendy’s working on design in it or a third party is working on some other aspect of it. Building something outside of the project specific file and bringing it in takes almost as much time as just waiting and building from scratch. Sure, I suppose I could be building components but I’m not so shut up. Gripe #2 is the ever popular complaint about how I despise duct taping Flash to my brilliant php/mysql programming work. My kingdom for a client that wants a nice, dynamic HTML-based site. Not dynamic HTML, mind you. That’s even more fucked than Flash.
I guess I’m just getting old, but I’m no longer excited by using two-bit technologies to slap some tired old promotional site together.
Not to mention I’m sick of talking about work anyway.
So I won’t. Planning the Buffalo trip this evening… trying to sort out when I’ll have time to put some music together so I have something to play when I’m out there…
and finally…
they say the heart of rock and roll is the beat, and you know, from what I’ve heard I believe ‘em.

I really thought I’d do better than that. http://www.innergeek.us/geek.html.
Actually, I shouldn’t be that surprised because I got annoyed and didn’t want to finish while I was doing it. Very ungeek.
On the other hand, I thought of a ton of refinements and improvements to the test. Which is very geek.
But finally, I’m too fucking lazy and don’t care enough, so I will not act on any of those thoughts and program a competing quiz. So, therefore, not very geek.
got a ton of work to deal with this week. i’m so frigging burned out tonight. i hate, hate, hate flash. cludgy piece of shit, and it absolutely sucks when you want to use a bunch of dynamic php/mysql stuff. yes, it’s great for animation… i just wish a) not everybody felt the need to have a flash site or b) there was a great, simple way to layer flash on top of html content and have them interact with each other. i’d love to have a nifty flash navigation that could reach over an html frame which would contain all the dynamic content and have things trigger back and forth.
of course, you probably can do that and i just don’t know how.
