well, there ya go. saw the 10pm show last night at mann’s chinese, or the chinese man, as wendy likes to call it. So, we had 22 tickets at one point - 10 for the chinese, 12 for the westwood theater. As of Monday, it looked like we couldn’t give away the westwood tickets, and we had a bunch of wafflers happening with the chinese tix. Tuesday, the wafflers fell back in line… Wednesday, we started getting calls about the westwood tickets. By the time we were standing in line - thanks Dave and Will for being lineboys - at 8, all of our tickets were bought. Except for Heather’s, of course. But we know she’s good for it. Hah.
We had a big damn group… Wendy and I roped in Simon, Heather, Greg, Anna, EJ and his new girl and Brian Blondell, and our last ticket went to Jen… with Dave and Will, we had Will’s sister (I lived with the guy and didn’t even know he had a sister), Jon, Steve, and a smattering of other folks who’s names escape me.
The line was interesting… seems everyone had a spoiler or two but nobody wanted to share info, so we kept wanting to talk about the movie but not wanting to. In & Out, cold, loud motorcycles. Stupid fucking TV cameras every 5 minutes sweeping the line. Saw Chuck Henry inside getting ready to do a dumb broadcast. “Look, they built it and people came!”…
Once they started letting people it, it turned into madness. Grown men and women sprinting through the gates, trying to spread one loose jacket over entire rows and claiming they’re holding the whole left quadrant of the theater… our group split into two, with the Dave and Will axis going way too close up to the screen for us, so our group heading back a bit and then losing the two new couples who flitted off a few rows to be alone in a crowded theater…
Waited in the horrendous line for snacks… that line had more cutting then the line to get in…
a bunch of crap trailers, but NO ADS… excellent
then, finally, the movie. I won’t do spoilers or discussions yet. I felt about it the same way I felt about the animatrix. Some parts were great, some parts were ok, some parts sucked and the rave scene / love scene was fucking horrible.
Tonight’s the bowling party, and come midnight I’m officially old. Ta for now.
