crack the whip
I don’t know how Jason did with his personal weight loss challenge, but I failed mine miserably. Admittedly, reaching my goal by my birthday in May was a bit of a stretch - I could have reached it if I had done two hours of cardio every day and ate only falafel since January - but it still sent me into a bit of a tailspin having not reached it… I even started doing one of those crash diet systems with an insanely restrictive diet and heaps of exercise, both cardio and weight-lifting… and I followed it religiously for 90 days leading up to my birthday. But I didn’t lose a single fucking pound, eating all that miserable dreck. I certainly beefed up the muscles, but my goal is weight loss, not buffing up.
At any rate, that failure lead to me kind of being pissed off about the whole process and slacking… I’m still exercising as much, but kind of let the whole watching what I eat thing slide a bit. End result? For the first time in two years, rather than having my clothes fit the same or be a little looser every week, they’re fucking tighter. Not bad enough that I have to slide back up the fat scale in clothes or anything, but noticably tighter.
So back to what worked. Keep up the exercise I’m doing - 45 min to an hour of cardio a day, yoga every day, weight lifting three times a week - and get back on the sensible eating plan. The fucking Subway thing works, but I can’t eat the same thing every day, twice a day, so I’ll make my Whole Foods market substitutions. If I’ve got the time to order a pizza, I’ve got the time to vespa down to subway or heat up some soup instead. Instead of treating myself to a nice meal out every other day (and then justifying it by getting the chicken fajitas instead of the steak and convincing myself I’m still eating healthy), back to cutting that down to one nice meal a week. Instead of getting the iced blended mocha, just an iced coffee. It’s all pretty simple and I fucking did it and did it right for over a year, and dropped well over 70 pounds…. how quickly I forgot, how quickly I slid back into (not-quite-as-)bad habits.
So there.

Try stressing, and eating a ton differently. I’ve lost so much I’m almost back to skater weight. 190 at last weighin and still dropping, thats about 25 pounds in 4 months.

I didn’t come close to my goal but it was unrealistic. I did that much loss when I was 18. I’m not 18 anymore I am sad to say. I’ve lost 22 pounds and I’m still losing. 1 hour of cardio a day. No weights until I’m at a stable place to live because going on and off weights is worse than not going on them. I can barely bench 75lbs now and I used to be able to do 245. All that muscle turned to fat which I had to re-lose. Basically if it’s got a carb in it I avoid it. Tough for you since you live with and therefore are a vegetarian for the most part. Low carbs are for carnivores. Mmmmmmmm meeeeeat. But I’m sticking with it and just doing it slowly. Oh yeah. Worst thing for the waistline? Fucking booze. I rarely drink anymore. Only if it’s an event. Much like this coming weekend. *hic*
