Just enjoying the new cellphone… the day we got it, we went to a friend’s art opening in Hollywood…

and then last night, we went and saw the Eels. Fantastic show. Really, really, really amazing…. but I learned that the phone camera is absolute crap if there isn’t a lot of light, so no pics from there. After the show, we headed back to Santa Monica for the regular Finn’s thing, except it was Simon’s birthday. Good turn out, lots of drinking…

Skeely had biked down to Finns, and had a bit of a mishap on the way home, apparently. Don’t bike drunk, kids. Here’s the aftermath…

and the location where he took a dive… rather amazingly, he didn’t hit the poles. The bike took most of the damage, apparently…

So that’s it so far. Today it’s back to work… I’m kind of digging this phone thing. I’m having problems getting the email thing to work, but I’ll just spend some time on the manual / website to sort that out. It’s got bluetooth so I can just zip photos onto my computer when I get back home, which works for me. I’d rather do it this way than doing a moblog or anything anyway. Still, it would be nice to do email when out and about so I’ll sort that out.

Gettings things done, crossing shite off the lists… no time for music, but soon enough. Gots to pay da bills first.

Had dinner with Dehais at Mercedes last night… two pitchers of sangria down the hatch. Good stuff, fun time. Been awhile since he’s been out on the road so got to hear all the good stories…

Tonight, we’re off to catch the Eels in hollyweird then jetting back over here for Simon’s bday shindig at Finn’s. Come one, come all… time for a little payback, as Jessie and I plan on getting him as plastered as they got me for my birthday. muahhahah

While the entire east coast has experienced a massive blackout, I’ve experienced a minor meltdown…

This has probably been the worst week - at least for me - in Slender Fungus history. Of course, to keep things in perspective, it’s STILL better than any time I’ve spent working for a company.

Pushed up deadlines; last minute projects that must be done; incessent phone calls from clients for no particular reason; patience and budgets being stretched to the limit; still no checks arrived from the already massively overdue backlog as previously discussed; neverending stream of emails from labels and various promotional entities that must be dealt with accordingly; blarghy blarghy blargh.

Of course, Wendy has put it all in perspective. None of it really matters that much, and none of it is that important. And all of it can be dealt with without the aneurisyms I’ve been experiencing…

so today, we started dealing with them, one by one, relatively rationally. Or at least Wendy did, while I got to play hooky and blow off some steam… so now we’re just dealing with the projects. Had to do some shitty things that I don’t like to do, dealing with clients and contractors and making hard decisions regarding deadlines, but that’s life. I’ll just drink myself into a stupor tonight and get over it.

our old cell phone took the final pavement spill yesterday… it now refuses to stay on for more than 5 seconds. oh well, needed to upgrade and swap plans anyway. off to the store i go, getting a nokia 3650 with the neato 640×480 camera built it, and decent wireless net options. looks like it might even end up being cheaper than the current plan i was on, provided we don’t go crazy with photos and transfer more than 4 megs a month of data.
