where am i?

Tuesday, August 12th, 2003

totally frazzled at the moment… 101+ small work things sucking the life out of me. work coming in for dave when he goes on vacation. stalling another client who decided to move the due date up. teaching musicians how to use message board systems. desperately trying to get record labels to pay massively overdue invoices, so i can pay the government. none of the above are working.

at any rate… also working on getting midi dumps of three old songs that are going on the final album, bringing them into logic and updating the sounds by moving them over to newer synth tones or taking them into reason. kind of cool, but almost like writing a song from scratch. it ain’t the notes, it’s what you do with them.

sigh. i could use a few 48 hour days.

organizing, organizing

listening to a rough mix of 19 tracks for the upcoming album… whittling it down to roughly 14 songs for the final, so a few are getting the boot, either for good or being held for album #2… trying to figure out sequencing, kind of have that locked down… a phone call with rob to go over the state of the union tomorrow, and make final decisions… then we’ve gotta organize, find all the assets for the final 14, add a few layers, make some edits, change some sounds, add some vocals… a little last minute tweaking, which should take the next few weeks… and then mastering and release!

in other news, still dealing with a ton of annoying client issues, still have a number of exceedingly late outstanding invoices, and still have a tax deadline of the 15th. sigh. oh, how i long to lose the dayjob.

run, arianna, run!

As much as I’m against the idea of a recall - we voted for him, he won, he gets his term, end of story… I mean, why can’t we do a recall on Bush? he didn’t even win! but i digress…

As much as I’m against the idea of a recall, this does provide a phenomenal opportunity to get someone in the office that would never have stood a chance otherwise. And I’m amazed and thrilled beyond belief that Arianna Huffington has decided to run… and will be voting for her. So should you. Here are three reasons why:

Why she’s running.

How To Overthrow the Government - this is a must read

Pigs at the Trough

So go read, get educated, get mad, and vote. Hell, I’m even going to contribute to her campaign.

Probably shouldn’t follow all that up with a run down of last night’s drinking festivities.

sitting around waiting for my parents to show up… every now and then they decide to come up here on odd days and hang out and make me anxious. today is one of those days.

playing phone tag with robby. apparently some good news on the music front, but damned if i know what it is yet.

went and saw brian blondell perform last night at the improv in hollywood. good stuff, and a fun time. ran down to boardners after, ej, skeely, brian, jeff, wendy, marie and a few other randoms. didn’t even get hammered, rather amazingly.

tonight simon’s got us on the list for bpm’s magazine issue launch party at cinescape in hollywood. two days in a row, i guess.

sunday monday happy days

wendy had her photoshoot yesterday… which means i was shaken awake by an already dressed and presentable wendy at 8:45 in the morning with the warning that people were already in the house. the band, manager and other photographer all met at our house, as did the make up person who did all their makeup here rather than at the location. so i was stuck in a house with 8 very awake and talkative people prior to even having a cup of coffee.

eventually, they did all clear out, and apparently things went very well. good for wendy. did a bike ride, and by the time I got back they were already done and gone…

i was supposed to swing by jon’s bbq thing yesterday but wendy ended up being done too soon for me to go alone, and she was too exhausted to make the trip, so we just lounged around, ate pizza and watched crappy movies… except for a brief coffee run with ej and skeely.

today? work… but not too much of it, thankfully. apparently i’m going to start working on a cover version of solsbury hill.
