in two ways - been eating light all week, and today has so far involved a sausage, steak and now off to a posh restaurant where it’s pretty much ensured i won’t be eating well…

and then i’ve gone nearly all week with very limited human contact, but today was booked solid - market in the morning with skeely and marie, parents for lunch and now off to dinner with john…

class starts up again tomorrow, which will be awesome… i’ve already learned quite a bit of the tech stuff, and this week will be more focused on the creative. Which reminds me, when I get back home tonight I need to stay up late and rewire my home studio. Learned how I should really have it all setup…

No, that shouldn’t make any sense. Just spent a few hours hanging out with EJ, marie and skeely, all of which were very stoned. Massively amusing, if generally non-sensical. Hopefully they’ll be alright tonight and wake up bright and early, as we’re all supposed to go to the farmer’s market tomorrow morning.

Other than working on my computer and continually feeding our piggy cats, today was a total waste. Well, that’s my theory anyway - technically, i got my computer back up to scratch, but considering it was fine the day before and I didn’t do anything to fuck it up in the first place, time was wasted. I still don’t understand how things just break. I’d understand if I changed settings or installed something weird or whatever, but to just sit down at a computer and have it fall apart for no discernable reason is a mystery to me.

Ditto my DVD player which just decided to act funky and needed to be unplugged for 10 minutes before working again.

Or… and don’t even get me started on this - our vespa, which will just decide to not start if we don’t take it out every few days. I just had to take it in 2 weeks ago, and now it’s not starting again because i didn’t ride it for 4 days.

Enough whining. Dracula is on cable. Going to watch that and wait for mon cherie to call.

What a sad way to spend the day. It took me four hours, but I at least fixed the networking issue. Had to basically uninstall and reinstall all the networking drivers and software. Something got seriously fubar’d.

Then, since I had already wasted a goodly amount of time, I went in and starting tinkering with the CD issue… apparently, iTunes and MusicMatch Jukebox do NOT like to be on the same system. Once I completely uninstalled both, and then reinstalled iTunes, it’s working properly.

Now, the only remaining issues is the CD-R on the music system, but that thing is just dead. It’s not even getting any power. Just needs to be replaced. But that can wait.

I need food.

Looks like both my systems have reached that wonderful point in their windows life where the whole system starts fucking up repeatedly and can really only be saved by a complete wipe and reinstall. Which usually sucks so badly I go out and buy another computer instead.

My music system has stopped recognizing the CD-R… which is pretty crap considering I record music on it and need to burn off audio cds. That’s really the only main problem there, and an easy and cheap fix - I’ll just buy a new CD-R for it.

However, I need to make the CD ASAP and I’m too lazy to go out. So I’ll just rip my source CD on my other computer and burn it there! OK, no problem… except that I just installed iTunes (which is wonderful except…) on the main system, and for some reason iTunes isn’t recognizing audio CDs… and has managed to stop Windows Media Player or MusicMatch Jukebox from recognizing them as well. Shit, that’s going to be hard to solve and i don’t want to even attempt to debug that nightmare right now…

OK, so I’ll rip the source CD on my music system and copy the files over to the main system through my network, to burn the CD there! Right, no problem… except for the fact that my internal network is now not working, either. Neither computer can find the other computer, even though it worked just a few days again, I haven’t changed anything, and everything is still connected, in the same workgroup and named the same.

Fuckity fuck fuck fuck.

Great class again tonight… learned some cool new things, got an idea of the different avenues open to people who know pro tools, and it’s all pretty exciting. digging it.

Unfortunately, now I have nothing to do. Everyone I know is out of town, unavailable, or unreachable tonight. This blows. Guess I’ll open up a bottle and watch a movie. Too burned out to stare at a screen anymore to do any more pro tools stuff tonight.
