ich bin ein auslander

Still some general work crappiness weighing me down, but putting the feelers out there for a new client or two, and it’s all kind of exciting while being nerve racking at the same time.

At any rate, been keeping busy - spent a good part of last night at john’s studio, and ended up leaving with the rough tracks for a song that i’m going to start working on today. can’t wait to dive in to that…. then we headed off to hollywood and la brea for the bpm release party and to hook up with simon for a few. very, very strange to go from a studio setting with an intimate singer / songwriter, tracking acoustic guitars to a club banging out hard beats and about 2000 sweaty people doing the epilectic hop.

tonight, we’ve found ourselves unknowingly double booked as we’re supposed to have an 8pm dinner with the manager of one client but another client has a showcase at the whiskey at, yep, 8pm. what to do? got a few hours to figure it out, i suppose.

Just got back from seeing Elf… pretty damn funny movie, even with the schmaltzy last 10 minutes.

other than that, been a pretty crap day with a forecast of continued crappiness throughout the week. perhaps some resolution tomorrow, which would be welcome. until then, bleakness shall continue. off to drink a glass (bottle) of wine and continue the wolves of calla.

meeting got cancelled at the last minute. not really a good sign, but then we just don’t know anything yet. still twisting in the wind. highly annoying.

didn’t do much of anything last night as a result, and the mood is definately low key today. just had a little lunch, going to do a bike ride and probably fuck all else today.

most of the week has been spent preparing for the meeting today. well, mostly for wendy, but a bit for me as well. at any rate, this is a big one, and will basically determine a large chunk of where our money is coming from next year. hopefully it’ll go well, or else we’re actually going to have to go out there and scrounge up some work for the first time in awhile. not really looking forward to that idea.

Either way, afterwards I’m sure we’ll both be up for hitting a bar or something this evening… we’ll either be celebrating, or crying in our beer / malibu-pinapples.

In other news, I think I mentioned finally being done with the Last Conservative album… I’m going to be starting with another band called Kleer this coming week. 5 or 6 songs, and actually getting paid cash money for it. Nice. Spent some time at john’s studio this week as well, and it does appear i’m getting a shot at the semi-big time and will be doing stuff for the guy recording there now as well. excited, nervous. hitting the manuals and tutorials big time so i’m ready to go and have a few tricks up the sleeve.

i love it when it rains, except for the fact that it opened up and poured while i attempted to drive both into and out of hollywood today. lovely, lovely commute.

anyway, finished all my mixes for the last conservative album. i’ll have info and purchase links ready when the time comes so you can all buy it and I can make a buck or two. dropped those off at rob’s house this afternoon, shot the shit and talked about some upcoming projects and attempted to troubleshoot his numerous computer issues. protools and he do not get along. then up and over the hill and down into the melrose area, and dropped by johns studio to see what was up there, and listen in on the sessions… looks like i’m up for some mixing / looping duties for a few tracks there, i’ll be finding out more about that as they progress… watched some killer lightning then attempted to head back home in time to attend a spinning class…

but i didn’t make it, so instead of working out exceedingly hard, found ej and skeely and pigged out at houston’s instead. great work there. went to the gym a bit later in the evening to attempt to make up for it, and now i’m here, loading up some new sample cds and getting ready to crash out.
