ich bin ein auslander

Which is 90% stress and 10% fun. Wendy’s birthday party is almost organized. Some gifts have been purchased. Tree has been bought and decorated. Off to our first christmas party tonight, at am’s, which are always really good fun. woot.

Haven’t felt like blogging for awhile… since last i typed, what has occurred? on saturday we pretty much stuck around the house, not doing much of anything. we attempted to go rent a movie at blockbuster but there wasn’t a damn thing we felt like seeing, so went home empty handed… sunday, my parents came up for lunch, and then we went out for a small little birthday dinner. one of the topics that came up over dinner was the thought of potentially moving downtown into a loft… so after dinner, wendy decided we needed to do a late night drive through downtown and try to find the 24 hour ralphs and any other conveniences i’ve demanded i need to have near me. no luck.

monday was more work and christmas planning and whatnot.. grabbed a drink with simon, sorted out hotel reservations for coachella this coming summer - yes, that far ahead of time - should be a good one. radiohead, kraftwerk, air, all good names being thrown around.

tonight is up in the air…

friday ended up being quite the strange blowout. most of the day was spent tightening up yet another mix, and still trying to track down very overdue money from the day job… went in to hollywood to deliver the mix as well as a birthday present, ended up drinking a decent amount of wine, then going to a not-yet-open club to hang out and have free drinks courtesy of the owner, then across the street to the rainbow room to engage in sheer hollywood drinking lunacy. we closed that place out then headed off to astro burger to try and sop up some of the alcohol, then home by 4am.

today, recovery. this is how i know i’m old. i simply would have repeated tonight 10 years ago.

to write a huge, long self indulgant entry but the mood passed and now i’m just tired and bored so I won’t.

Dinner last night with rob and miyoko… fantastic indian food, so spicy rob and i were in spice comas. got new music to work on, a possible big project, and a rough idea of when we’ll get back to working on our own stuff. that’d be nice.

Worked on another mix last night and things finally started to click… taking it in tonight to get the verdict. here’s hoping. Also picking up a few more tracks to work on. I enjoy doing it, so here’s hoping the money will follow.

I hate the holidays. New Year’s is sorted out, thank god, but I’ve really gotta start thinking about Christmas… hopefully Wendy and I can just sit down, bash out a list, and do most of our shopping online. I really don’t have the stomach for more than one day out shopping in the real world.

Also gotta start thinking about Wendy’s birthday (Dec 14th, mark your calendars) as she’s expressed an interest in actually doing something this year. So you have been forewarned.

What else? Not much. Going to head off the to the gym in a bit, come back and burn off a CD, then head out to Hollywood to pick up the new stuff, have some dinner, and then drop off the finished (version 1) product.
