ich bin ein auslander

yesterday was both fun and hell. started off by heading out to pasadena to drop by dave’s birthday party… picked up skeely as we hadn’t seen him in awhile, and then we ended up driving john and tracy out as well, since there was a pub literally down the street that was having a belgian beer festival. unfortunately, it took us almost an hour and a half to get out there thanks to rain and typical LA traffic. not fun. it was great seeing dave and jen, wish they lived closer… jason, will, jon and steve as well… and the other random folks we’ve met before and we haven’t. hung out for awhile, had a few great beers, then picked up john and tracy and headed back… somehow they managed to drink A LOT of beer in the hour and a half, so it was a long and loud drive home

dropped them off in hollywood, back to venice to drop off skeely and change, then back in the car and back to hollywood for dinner at some weird mediterranean place with belly dancers. another miserable rainy drive. really tired and sick of driving at this point… but lots of friends and a good time, in theory…. lots of friends, true, but a weird vibe at the dinner made it a bit of a letdown. oh well, can’t always be a great time out. belly dancers were funny, decent wine, a few good smoke conversations, and then another long rain drive home.

today, we’ve blown off all commitments, haven’t seen anyone, and holed up at home. i have a large bottle of wine and the sex and the city finale. yay.

finished (sort of) another project, messenger picked it up this morning… sucked the box last night, which was great, but i’m so burned out on the food there. i don’t do sushi, so normally make do with shrimp tempura and edamame… but this time, i was feeling bad for my dietary indiscretions all week and just had rice and miso soup. Which was good, except for the two large asahis and sake box that went with it. I was more than a little loopy. I had planned on coming back home and doing some bike time, but that didn’t happen. Instead, we rented a movie (”Intolerable Cruelty”… two bad movies in a row from the Coen bros, sad) and ate a bunch of milk duds. Not good.

Full dance card today. Off to Pasadena shortly for Dave’s b-day thingamagoochi, and it looks like we’ll be taking a few people with us out to Pasadena and dropping them off at some bar that’s having a belgian beer festival, then picking their drunk asses up when we leave the party and taking them home. Not without stopping to sample, of course. And then dinner tonight with another group of folks….

Off to the gym first. Preemptive alcohol calorie burnoff.

too much time spent working - particularly for wendy - with too little money in return. this blows.

Another painful work day yesterday, although there were actual results… I successfully debugged the flash file that had me pounding my head into the keyboard the other day, and learned how to really use the debug tool and trace and picked up lots of nifty actionscript 2.0 stuff in the process. Which is all well and good, but still pretty sucky.

Thankfully, the evening was a blast. I haven’t had that much fun just going out to dinner in awhile… andy was back in town, karen came down, rick, john, rob, miyoko, wendy and myself had a great dinner and multiple mojitos. topics of conversation… too numerous to mention but all fucking hilarious. particularly once doug showed up.

today… back to the grind. got an ecd we need to get out the door by tomorrow morning, and… as per usual… not only do we not really have an actual approved budget, but we have no materials! woo hoo!
