Server went down on wednesday for a few hours… finally came back up, but apparently i got a fault hard drive and it needed to be replaced. OK, fine. Learn how to do the backup onto the second drive. Schedule a replacement time - a four hour window.

I wake up after the four hours… hmm… still down. To make a long story short, 24 hours later i’m up and running and restored. Pain in the ass. No support whatsoever, and a bunch of bumbles from the server people which created the massive downtime.

OH well. A few things still to sort out… secure server got lost in the translation somehow, along with a few other things.

sigh.

I know the screaming masses have been lost and adrift without regular updates here… besides the crushing amount of work that we’ve been dealing with, i’ve also got a faulty hard drive issue on the server, so i’ve been learning how to mount hard drives in unix and do backups. replacement drive installed tomorrow, and hopefully a trouble-free restore, and then things will be back to normal and i’ll only have to deal with the 5 or 10 sites we need to have done in the next two weeks. yee haw!

what else has been going on? not too much since our return from buffalo… headed out to dinner in downtown la then jason’s opening last weekend, but missed it because we showed up too late…. but we at least had a few drinks with the crew… went and met a new client, leann, at the greek this week… dinner with culiner and isabella last night… that’s about it.

the new cure album sucked. the new pj harvey album sucked. the new morissey album sucked.

on the plus side, i rented bad santa and it was fucking hilarious.

fucking continental. overbooked and “involuntarily bumped”. no other flights back to la tonight. got some cash and a first class upgrade back home tomorrow morning. all very nice and well, but i want to be HOME.

well… i guess we’ll grab the train and hit manhatten for a drink or five. lead in to the complementary 7am flight bloody marys.

woo hoo. big show down at niagra square in buffalo tonight… a little downtime before we need to head back over there… with a police escort, no less. nice. it’s been pretty interesting this week, seeing all the mayhem and chaos and massive amounts of work involved with pulling something like this off. but i’m very ready to go home.
