Welcome to the Party…

Tuesday, February 28th, 2006

Thrilled to launch Karl’s site today and help bring World Party back to the world at large. All his catalog is - finally - available on iTunes as well, and a show at SXSW before a full US tour this summer. Yay! He’s also blogging… which should prove interesting.

The Haps

Thursday, February 23rd, 2006

Luke is in town and literally staying in my office/studio, so the ability to work on music into the wee hours is out the window. As per usual, as soon as I CAN’T do something, I WANT to. All this week I could have been working on music, and didn’t feel inspired… now my fingers are twitching. I guess I’ll just pretend he’s still here on Saturday, when he leaves, and perhaps I’ll fool myself. And since I know Laurie lurks… well, I could ask why she isn’t here, but then again, I’ll just get a snarky email asking why we haven’t been to Calgary. Because it’s cold, because it’s cold.

Skeels has hit a rough financial patch, so I can’t drag him out drinking, which is depressing me to no end. It’s just not the same at the old Finn McCool’s without skeely on my right. Or left. Or whatever. At least I’m not being tempted into ordering fries.

Karl is making his triumphant comeback at SXSW on March 15th… I had hoped to be there, but things interfered so I’m left hoping he’ll book at show at Largo or something while he’s in the area. By area, that would be the entire US, I suppose. Last time we chatted he was going to come to LA, but he’s in full fledged promo mode so who knows. Looking forward to launching his new site, it was fun to build and looks killer… just waiting for go to pull the trigger.

OK, time to find a wine bottle or three.

Sake!

Went to catch the current “Ectasy” exhibit at MOCA today with Mike and Krista, and spent the majority of the time enjoying fine, premium “chilld” sake instead… then we finally decided to catch the exhibit by sneaking in and running around like the drunk fools we were. It was a good day.

sake!

The Great Gear Sell-Off

Friday, February 17th, 2006

I’m updating and upgrading my home studio… got a few items that aren’t fitting in to my new workflow situation. Because that’s what you do when you should be working on music - you change the way you do it all. Anyway, if anyone’s interested in any of these items, drop me a line. They all work great - none of this stuff is bunk. I just don’t want them anymore.

“They seem to have square slabs of ambition where their personalities ought to be”
