Tonight brings the end of the best show on network TV, Arrested Development.  Fox is airing the final four episodes back to back;  just to show how they, even in the final hours, still try to bury the show, it’s up against the opening of the Olympics.  Why not?  Here’s hoping the rumors of Showtime picking up the show will turn out to be true.
Anyway, it’s well worth checking out… and it’s followed immediately by a brand new Battlestar on Sci-Fi!

thanks jason. it was relatively painless, and this is WAYYYY better than MT. Now I just need to do some clean up and get this all looking and working correctly… and then I get to update all the other folks blogs whom I’m hosting. fun.

The first - and in my view, absolutely the best band playing the whole damn festival now - change to the coachella 2006 line up. Massive Attack added as a headliner on day two!

It’s a big year for the Crystal Method. i fully expect them to be added at some point. Still expecting at least one big indie/guitar band as well. The pumpkins, perhaps… the more the rumors are heading towards no, the more i say yes.

It took a comment from my one reader (is that you, mom?) to point out that I hadn’t mentioned anything about my favorite weekend of the year yet. Yes, the Coachella line up is out! Of course, it’s the super-early preliminary line up and it’ll change drastically before we get there, but it’s still a bit exciting. Just looking at it briefly, I can already guess there will be at least one more big name coming, probably for Day 2… and probably a few more major electronic acts announced. Daft Punk as a headliner for the dance tent, considering how bad their last album was? I think not.

Anyway, my highlights..

Day 1: Depeche headlining. Did I not nail it months ago dear readers? You all owe me a tasty margarita at the vip bar.
Daft Punk is a bit of a bummer, can’t wait to see Sigur Ros in that environment (much to Wendy’s dismay… she can’t stand them)…. Franz Ferdinand the other big name, not really anything I’m excited about. Ladytron are there again, hopefully this time they won’t be delayed over an hour… Hard-Fi i’m excited to see live… Hybrid, but they’re listed waaaaay down and will probably have the super early dance tent booking, which blows. They should take Daft Punk’s spot - they’re a million times better…. a lot of names i’ve never even heard of before… the Like should be fun, just to watch a bunch of spoiled, yet hot, 19-21 year old entertainment industry offspring girls fall apart on stage… i see some serious mid-level additions still to come for this day..

Day 2: Tool? wtf? I know a ton of people really like them, but it’s a pretty surprising headliner for me. And I could care less. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Great, I fuckin’ love the one album they put out two hundred years ago. Got any more material, guys? Please put it out prior to coachella, thank you. Bloc Party’s nice, but again.. a large type first line listing? Not sure about that. Paul Oakenfold headlining the dance tent is a bit of a disappointment. I mean, he’s ok and all… but not exciting. I’d rather watch Junkie XL fart than Oakie spin… Sleater-Kinney, Mogwai… cool.. Mylo, that should be interesting… he’s done some of the best mixes and mashups i’ve heard recently… Digable Planets? Haven’t they been split up since I was in college? A ton of people I’ve never heard of at all… stellastar* making another appearance, unfortunately, once again most likely during the day…

So… really, not a terribly exciting coachella line up for me this year, but that’s actually ok. I’ve just gone off a two year jag where I basically was going nuts for all the bands that were playing, rushing from tent to tent, that I really didn’t get to just hang out and get wasted and get into that coachella vibe. Looks like this year, I’ll be able to relax and just have a good time, and hopefully have a bunch of pleasant surprises.
