Wednesday, April 26th, 2006My pre-game…
#1 band most excited to be seeing: Massive Attack.
Saturday:
Thrilled Depeche Mode is headlining. Should be great. happy to see them again..
looking forward to seeing Franz Ferdinand, although they haven’t put in the time to be second headliner on the main stage…
Sigur Ros should be amazing but they’re third headliners and would be better after the sun has set…
Daft Punk is headlining the dance tent but their last album really, really sucked…
looking forward to seeing ladytron again a bit earlier in the day, same with hybrid, probably one of the more underrated dance acts… and looking forward to seeing clap your hands and say yeah and joey beltram both for the first time. not much else i’m all that familiar with or interested in, really… will wander around and see what i can see.
Sunday:
Massive Attack! I thought they would be headlining the dance tent, but they’re second headliners to Tool on the main tent. This is good, as it means we can get out early. Wen wants to catch a bit of Tool, but once Massive Attack is done, i’m pretty much done. Mylo’s headlining the dance tent, so wen can watch some tool, i can watch some of mylo, and we’ll meet up and bail early.
Madonna’s on pre-Mylo, also pre-Massive Attack on the main stage… i was thinking about checking out some of it just so I can informedly bitch post-coachella, but the yeah yeah yeah’s are on the main stage and i was trumpeting their praises a long time ago. so i’ll be watching that. going to also catch bloc party, who i like but have not seen live yet, and the editors, who i want to check out… stellastarr* is there yet again, and i love that first album but i’m really lukewarm on the follow up. but i’ll go see them for a bit, and bounce around between them, paul oakenfold and bloc party, who are all playing semi-simultaneously. Going to also catch the magic numbers, but most of the morning lineup isn’t very interesting, so i can work off the saturday hangover and show up a bit later on sunday.
Like i mentioned before, not crazy about this year’s line up… but those are usually the best experiences. Get to spend more time hanging out, having fun, drinking (alot), i mean, drinking in the vibe.. and maybe finding out about a few new bands that’ll become my new obsessions and influences.
Can’t wait. been working 15-20 hours days. need the break.
